That one referral group I joined in March completely turned around my client flow by June
I signed up for a local BNI chapter back in March, mostly just to network and get out of the house. First month I only got one referral and it was a dud. But by June I had 5 solid referrals from the same group, and two of them turned into paying clients. The big difference was just showing up every week and actually listening to what people needed instead of just talking about myself. Anyone else seen a slow burn from a referral group like that?

Not gonna lie, I've had the opposite experience with referral groups. Put in six months with one and got maybe two leads that went nowhere. Your mileage may vary for sure.

Six months is a long time to stick it out with nothing to show for it. I've been in that exact boat where you keep showing up hoping this week will be different and it never is. The worst part is the awkward conversations when someone asks how many referrals you've gotten and you have to fudge the numbers. Two leads that went nowhere sounds like the group just wasn't clicking for you, no matter how many eggs you ate. Makes you wonder if half those groups are just social clubs dressed up as business opportunities.

Six months and only two leads that went nowhere? Man that is rough. I would have dipped out way sooner, like after the second month of zero results. Some of those groups are just people trading business cards and not actually following up. Sounds like you wasted a ton of Thursday mornings for nothing. Dead leads are the worst, especially when you put in all that time networking.
