Appreciation post: A homeowner in Tacoma called my conduit run 'beautiful'

I was finishing a panel upgrade last week and the client, an older guy, just stood there and said 'that's a beautiful piece of work' while pointing at the conduit. Anyone else get a random compliment that just made the whole day better?

Oh man, that's the best! I had a lady once just stop and stare at a clean wire pull I did in an attic. She said it looked like a spider web in the morning light, all neat and organized. I was covered in insulation and sweating buckets, but I floated out of there. Those little comments from people who notice the craft, they stick with you for years. Makes all the fussy work worth it.

Those moments make the job worth it.

You know that feeling when a student finally gets it? My friend teaches middle school math and had this kid who just could not grasp fractions. She stayed after school with him for weeks, trying everything. Then one day he looks up and goes, "Oh, it's like cutting up a pizza!" The way she tells it, you can hear the smile in her voice even now. That one moment of seeing it click for him, that's what she holds onto.
