Passing down knowledge on the job feels different now

Old timers used to really show you how things worked with their hands. Now everyone is rushed and just follows the plan on a screen. I miss that personal touch in learning the trade.

Felt the same way about apps for paint estimates. Thought they were smarter, until I watched a new guy struggle with trim because the screen just said "cut at 45 degrees." You have to put your hands on the miter saw, feel how the wood grain can pull the blade, see how a painted piece fits different than a primed one. The app gave a number, but it didn't teach the thing.

My dad taught me to fix a flat tire before he showed me how to read a manual.

Didn't i used to think screens were better, but hands-on teaching just means more, you know?
