Rant: Last Tuesday was the worst day I've had on the job in 20 years

I was doing a service upgrade in an old house near Topeka and hit a live knob and tube wire that wasn't marked on any print. Took me 4 hours to safely isolate it and rewire around it, lost a full day's pay on the quote. Has anyone else run into surprise cloth wiring in old homes that wasn't in the inspection report?

Hit "live knob and tube" is all I needed to hear. That stuff is a nightmare waiting to happen.

Rewiring that old stuff completely fixed our flickering lights problem.

Damn, that's a nightmare. I found the same thing last year in a 1920s house, had to crawl through asbestos dust to trace it out.
