Vent: Got called out to a fancy restaurant in Tempe for a flickering light

The manager was sure it was a bad ballast in their main dining room chandelier. After an hour on a 20-foot ladder, I found the real problem. A busboy had zip-tied the low-voltage wire for the dimmer right against a hot water pipe in the ceiling. The heat was making the insulation go soft. Ever have a fix that simple after someone was so sure it was something big?

Man, that's the worst. You chase the big fix when it's something stupid simple. @davis.ruby knows the feeling with that mouse nest. Always makes you feel a little silly after.

Totally see that everywhere, not just with tech stuff. People will look for some deep, complex reason when the answer is right in front of them. Makes you wonder why our brains jump to the worst case first, right? That moment you figure it out is equal parts relief and facepalm.
