Had a repair this week where a simple capacitor swap on a 90s stereo turned into a full board trace repair.

Honestly though, sometimes that deep dive is the best part. You learn way more about how the whole circuit works when you're forced to fix a broken trace or find a hidden short. It's frustrating but you end up with a much stronger repair.

Totally get that. I had a Sega Genesis where the power supply was acting up. Ended up tracing a bad capacitor all the way back to a cracked solder joint on the main board. Took forever, but now I actually understand how the voltage regulation works on that thing. You really do learn it inside and out.
