Ignoring a faint hum cost me a full day's work on a hydraulic unit.

I used to think that sound was normal, but it turned out to be a pump seal starting to fail. Now I check it every time, no exceptions!

Learned that lesson the hard way too. Now I keep a spare seal kit on the truck just in case. Saves a huge headache when a small sound turns into a big problem.

Seal kits won't fix every weird noise though.

Ah yes, the old "throw a seal kit at it" method. Works great until your truck starts sounding like a dying robot anyway.
