Lockout-tagout for quick fixes: My crew says it's overkill, I say it's essential. Where do you stand?

Yeah my buddy almost lost a finger last year. They were just clearing a jam on a conveyor, figured it was quick so they skipped lockout. Someone across the shop hit the main power button to reboot a computer and the thing lurched back on. His hand was in the rollers. He's okay now but it was a real wake-up call for their whole shop. Never worth the risk.

Ugh, that shortcut mindset happens everywhere, not just workshops.

Man, I'm that guy who uses lockout-tagout to change a battery. Learned my lesson after a shock from a live panel we thought was off. Now I'd rather be called too careful than end up in the ER. It's essential, full stop.
