Just lost $400 on a 'networking' mastermind group that was basically a ghost town

I signed up last month after seeing a flashy ad promising direct intros to angel investors. The first week, the host posted a few times, then completely vanished. The Slack channel has been silent for 22 days straight. I paid for a six-month commitment upfront, so that money is just gone. Has anyone found a real, active mastermind that's actually worth the fee?

My buddy got roped into something like that for indie game devs. Paid up front and the whole thing just fizzled out in a month, it was a total waste.

Ugh, that is the worst feeling. I had the same thing happen with a paid group for freelance writers that just died after two weeks. The host stopped showing up to the calls and the forum went totally quiet. It makes you so careful about paying for anything upfront now. What did the ad promise you to get you to sign up?

My friend got into a legit one through a local tech meetup last year.
