My best deals came from ignoring the crowd at conferences
I used to feel pressure to meet everyone at big events. Focusing on just a few people during breaks brought me my first major client. In my experience, depth beats breadth every time.

Paying for a crowd just to avoid them is pretty funny.

Seriously, it's the best move. I've paid for a full ticket just to post up in some empty side room with two people who actually get what I do. Everyone's fighting over coffee with the keynote speaker while I'm having a real talk by the fake plants. Idk, maybe I'm just paying for a quiet place to think and a free lunch.

Totally! I skip half the sessions on purpose. Honestly the best chats happen in the hallway or at some random table in the back. You can actually talk shop without someone looking over your shoulder for a better contact.
