My pitch totally bombed at a Denver meetup last month

I was at a startup mixer at The Source hotel and completely blanked on my numbers halfway through. I just stopped, took a breath, and said 'Let me start over, I'm messing this up.' A guy named Mark from a local fintech firm actually came up after and said he respected the honesty, and we ended up grabbing coffee the next week. Anyone else ever recover from a total brain freeze in front of a room?

My cousin once forgot her own wedding vows and just started laughing, it actually made the whole thing better.

Forgetting the vows and laughing sounds like the most honest part of the day.

Honestly that kind of realness cuts through all the fake polish you see everywhere now. It's like we're all so trained to perform that a genuine stumble actually builds more trust. That guy Mark probably saw someone he could actually work with, not just another perfect pitch. Most connections happen in the messy human moments, not the slick presentations. You showing you could handle the flub was way more impressive than any memorized number.
