That industry meetup I walked out on after 10 minutes
Went to a "high level" entrepreneur mixer downtown Nashville last month. Left after 10 minutes because it was just people handing out business cards and talking over each other. Got a follow up from one guy 2 weeks later and we ended up partnering on a small job that paid $1,200. Made me wonder if I judged it too fast. Anyone else walked out of something and then regretted missing the chance?

Oh man, that's such a classic case of first impressions being totally off! I've done the exact same thing at a few networking things and later found out the real gold was in those random follow-ups, not the loudest people in the room (the ones with the most business cards, basically).

Wait, you're saying the loudest people handed out the most business cards?

Wait, so the loudest people at networking events are the ones handing out the most business cards? That's honestly kind of wild to think about. I always figured the quiet ones were the ones with the real connections.
