Warning: that networking event last week was a total waste of time and money

I paid $50 to go to a "high value" entrepreneur mixer downtown last Tuesday. Walked in and it was basically 30 people all trying to sell each other the same dropshipping course. One guy literally tried to pitch me his coaching program while I was getting coffee. Has anyone else been burned by these paid meetups that are just disguised sales pitches?
