A client's skin barrier fact that made me pause

I was reading a study from a dermatology journal last night and saw that it can take over 40 days for a fully compromised skin barrier to repair itself. I had no idea the timeline was that long. How do you guys adjust treatment plans when you suspect barrier damage is the main issue?

Forty days is a serious timeline. Do you find clients get frustrated with that slow progress, or does knowing the timeframe actually help them stick with a simpler routine?

Honestly I used to push for faster results. But seeing people actually finish the whole forty days changed my mind. That clear end date stops them from quitting when it gets boring, which it always does around week three. They know exactly how long the boring part lasts.

Honestly that timeline explains so much about my own skin disasters. I kept trying new actives every two weeks like an idiot, basically restarting the clock over and over. Now I just tell myself to chill for a full six weeks before I even think about changing anything.
