I finally listened to my mom about using a fan during extractions

My mom, who ran a salon in the 90s, always told me to keep a small fan pointed away from the client during extractions. She said it moves the air so you don't smell the sebum as much. I thought it was an old trick and ignored it for my first year, finding the smell really distracting sometimes. Last month, I had a client with very congested skin and decided to try it. I set up a little desk fan on my cart, aimed at the wall. It made a huge difference. I could focus better and the client didn't notice a thing. Now I'm wondering, are there other simple, old-school tricks like this that actually work? What's one piece of advice you got that seemed weird but turned out to be a game changer?

Heard a stylist swear by cold spoons for setting makeup.

Remember that weird trick with the cold spoon? My friend Sarah tried it after seeing @jones.nancy mention it. She stuck two spoons in the freezer before her date. She said she pressed them under her eyes and on her cheeks for a minute. Her makeup didn't budge all night, even though it was super humid out. She swears it worked better than her fancy setting spray.

Sarah's story totally makes sense. The cold probably tightens everything up and helps the makeup stick. I've had those nights where you just KNOW your face is going to melt off, and nothing works. A cheap trick that actually helps is a total win. Might have to try this next time I'm heading out somewhere important.
