Hot take: People in my town keep saying 'I'll get to it' and it's killing their projects.

I was helping my neighbor Frank finish his deck, a job he started two summers ago, and he said the same thing he always does: 'I'll get to it next weekend.' That deck is still missing three boards. The epiphany hit me at the hardware store in Springfield last Tuesday. It's not about time, it's about a specific fear of the final step, of calling something done and facing what comes next. How do you push past that last 10% when the project just needs a final push?

That part about avoiding judging your own work really clicked for me... I used to think procrastinators were just lazy but now I see it's more about not wanting to face the final verdict. Makes me wonder how many half-finished things in my garage are really about me being scared of the finish line.

Man, that's just how people are with their phones too.

That part about fearing the final step really hits home. I get stuck because once it's done, I have to admit I spent all that time and money on it. So I drag out the last bit to avoid judging my own work.
