I had a lightbulb moment about camera gear while shooting in the park
I think people are wrong about needing fancy cameras for good photography. Last week, I took my dad's old camera to the park and the pictures turned out better than ever because I paid attention to the light and angles.

Funny how using an old camera makes you focus on the basics instead of relying on auto-everything. It's like driving a manual car after years of automatic, you actually have to pay attention. That forced slowdown probably made you notice the light and angles more than any fancy setting would. Plus, there's less pressure to get the perfect shot when you're not worrying about all the bells and whistles. Makes me wonder if we've all been duped into thinking better gear equals better photos.

Shoot with just one prime lens for a month, it forces you to move your feet and really work the composition. You start to learn light by guessing exposures and checking your meter, not by letting the camera do the math. Honestly, most new cameras just give you more ways to salvage a bad photo instead of making a good one. The best gear upgrade is still figuring out how to see.

Honestly troywilliams is totally right about that manual car feeling. It's not just about slowing down, it's about how limits make you creative. Like being stuck with one fixed lens means you have to solve problems with your eyes and your feet, not a zoom ring. Ngl, all that fancy tech can just become a list of excuses for why a photo isn't good yet. The real skill is learning to make a strong image with whatever you have, even if it's just a phone.
