Made 5 jars of pickles the exact same way... only 2 sealed right
I followed the recipe to the letter. Same brine, same boiling time, same jars from the same batch. Three of them popped when I pressed the lids. The other two just sat there. I waited 24 hours and rechecked. Still loose. Turns out I forgot to wipe the rims before putting the lids on. One tiny speck of garlic can ruin the whole seal. Has anyone else lost a batch over something that small?

Wait, one speck of garlic really did that? That's brutal, I've never heard of something so tiny messing up a seal like that.

Same thing happened to me with a tiny fleck of pepper last summer.

Ehh I don't know, sounds like bad luck more than anything. I've had jars seal fine with way worse rim mess than that.
