My whole plan for a quiet Sunday fell apart because of a leaky faucet
I was all set for a lazy day, coffee in hand, when I heard that drip. Not just a drip, but a steady stream from the kitchen faucet. I tried tightening everything with my basic wrench, but it just got worse. Water started spraying out from under the handle, all over the counter. I had to shut off the main valve under the sink, which was stuck and took me ten minutes of wrestling. My whole morning was gone, and I had a mess to clean up. It hit me that I've been ignoring little home fixes for way too long, thinking they'd just go away. Now I'm stuck with no kitchen water until I figure it out. Has anyone else had a simple repair turn into a huge headache like this? What did you do?

Been there. The packing nut under the handle probably needs a new washer, and the seat might be chewed up. Grab a universal faucet repair kit from the hardware store. It has all the little plastic and rubber bits. Take the old parts with you to match them up. It's a twenty minute job once you have the right pieces.

Actually, I've had those universal kits fail more than once because the parts were a close but not perfect match. Last time I tried one on a Moen, it leaked again in a week. I had to buy the exact factory seat and spring kit anyway. river320 is right about the cause, but I'd skip the universal kit and just pull the old parts first to get the right model number.

Ever wasted money on a universal kit too?
