PSA: I finally get why my dad always insisted on family dinners.

We fought about it every Sunday, and I thought it was just a dumb tradition. But last week, during a random Tuesday meal, my kid opened up about school stuff out of nowhere. It hit me that the routine wasn't about the food, it was about forcing us to sit and actually talk. Now I feel bad for all those times I complained!

Forced routines often lead to the best unplanned talks.

While @the_mila says forced routines help, I find they can stop real talk from happening.

Are you kidding? The forced routines are the only thing that gets people talking, @the_ivan. Nothing like being stuck together to make the real stuff come out.
