Ngl, decoding my dad's barbecue sauce recipe from memory brings back great times but so much trial and error.

Been there with my grandma's chili! It's always worth every mistake though.

My grandma's chili recipe from Chicago uses three types of beans. I once added too much chili powder by accident, and it became our new favorite. Those mistakes really show how recipes can change over time. What was the best mistake you made with your grandma's chili? Did it change how you make it now?

My grandpa's Texas chili never had beans at all. I messed up once and used a can of fire roasted tomatoes instead of plain crushed. The smoky flavor was a total game changer, and now I won't make it without them. It's funny how a simple swap can become the new normal.
