If you're planning a mountain job, test your gear first.
I learned the hard way that propane doesn't burn right above 10,000 feet. It made shaping shoes a real struggle. Bring a portable forge or extra fuel to be safe.

Yikes, that's a special kind of problem. So you're up there looking all professional with your anvil, ready to make some artisanal mountain footwear, and your fire just sputters out. You'd have the best-dressed yet most stranded climbing team ever. All that work just to be the guy with the fancy handmade shoes and no way to actually hike back down. Peak irony, honestly.

My friend Jake once brought a full espresso setup on a backpacking trip to make 'artisan coffee' at the summit. He carried the grinder, beans, and a portable machine up the whole trail. When we got to the top, he realized he'd packed no water. We just sat there smelling fresh grounds with a great view, no coffee. It's that same vibe of having all the gear but missing one key thing, right @mila_harris? He still talks about it as his peak planning fail.

But honestly, is forgetting the water that big a deal (it's just coffee)? The story is funny but he still got to enjoy the view and the smell. It's a mild fail, not exactly a tragedy.
