Saw a bad shoeing job at the Kentucky Horse Park that split my thinking

I was watching a clinic there last fall and saw a farrier put a shoe on a horse with a long toe and low heel. The horse was off in two strides. Some folks said you should always fix the angle first, even if it takes more time. Others argued you get the shoe on quick and let the trim fix it over visits. Has anyone else seen a case like this and what's your take on the right call?

Man, that's rough to see. I've always been told you gotta fix the angle right then, a quick shoe on a bad foot just sets the horse up for trouble. Sorry that happened to your gelding, @alice269, it's a perfect example of why rushing it is a bad idea.

My old gelding went lame after a rushed shoeing job in Lexington.
