Saw a clever hoof stand setup at the fairgrounds in Cheyenne
They had a simple cinder block and 2x4 rig to hold a hoof steady for rasping, which was way more stable than I expected. Anyone else use a similar homemade stand for quick jobs?

Oh yeah, that setup is solid. I've used a stack of old pavers and a scrap board the same way. It gets the job done for a quick touch-up.

So we're just building furniture for horses now? What's next, a tiny couch?

My farrier showed me his portable stand last year, and I had the same thought. Then I watched him work on a restless horse for twenty minutes. Having that hoof up on a steady block instead of his knee made a huge difference for his back and his focus. It’s not about being fancy, it’s about letting him do a better, safer job. That changed my mind completely.
