Talked to a vet about hoof balance and it clicked differently this time
She said 'you're not just trimming feet, you're setting the foundation for the whole leg' while we looked at a navicular case. I've heard that before, but seeing the x-rays next to my rasp marks made it real. How do you guys keep the whole leg in mind when you're focused on the foot?

Wait, did you say you were looking at your own rasp marks on actual x-rays? That's wild, how often do you get to see proof like that? It must be so different from just hearing the theory. So do you try to picture the bones while you're working now, or is that too much to think about?

Just picture the whole horse as a wobbly table and the foot is that one short leg you're trying to fix. Easy!

Easy" is doing a lot of work there, @the_faith. Comparing a whole horse to a wobbly table feels like a huge oversimplification lol. I get the point but it's not like you can just shove a coaster under a hoof and call it a day. That's a living animal with a ton of moving parts, not some ikea furniture. Seems way more serious than fixing a short leg on a table.
