Unpopular opinion: I tried using a 4-inch grinder for trimming a tough hoof wall
It actually worked way faster than my nippers on this Percheron last week, but you gotta be super careful not to overheat the horn. Anyone else use power tools for tough trims?

Sounds like a great way to turn a hoof trim into a farrier science experiment. You're basically one slip away from giving that horse a hot pedicure. I'll stick to the slow and safe tools, thanks.

Keep a spray bottle of water handy to cool the horn between passes.

My uncle used a wet burlap sack for the same thing on his old anvil. Honestly, it worked better than any spray bottle I've tried. That old school method just held the cool longer.
