Had a total fabric meltdown at a wedding in Portland last month
I was wearing this silk blend wrap dress I designed myself, feeling pretty good about it. The ceremony was outside and it got way hotter than forecast, like 90 degrees. During the reception, I leaned against a wooden railing that had been painted that morning. When I pulled away, there was this perfect, sticky rectangle of wet white paint right across the back. I froze. Rushing to the bathroom, I dabbed at it with a wet paper towel, which just smeared it and made the silk underneath go weird and puckered. In a panic, I remembered a bartender had a tiny bottle of hand sanitizer. I put a drop on a cloth, blotted the spot, and the paint came right off. The silk was still a little warped, but it saved the dress from a total loss. Has anyone else had a fabric react badly to something unexpected and found a weird fix that worked?

What did you do to fix the warped silk in the end?

Honestly, that sounds more like a close call than a total meltdown. Good save with the hand sanitizer though.

But come on, a close call is still a big deal. If you're one step away from a meltdown, that's pretty serious. Hand sanitizer is just a quick fix, not a real solution. Feels like we're all just putting band-aids on bigger problems lately.
