I was dead wrong about linen shirts being too wrinkly for daily wear

I always figured linen looked like you slept in a ditch after an hour, but my wife bought me one for my birthday last June. After wearing it on a 90 degree job site installing hardwood in Austin, I stayed cool and the wrinkles actually looked intentional somehow. Has anyone else had a fabric they swore off that turned out to be fine?

That "unlearn what you thought you knew" line really hits with linen. I was the same way until I got a pair of linen drawstring pants for a beach trip. Now I wear them to the grocery store and people probably think I'm some effortlessly stylish guy when really I just gave up on ironing anything. It's like the fabric has this built-in permission to look lazy. The funny thing is, once you accept the wrinkles, you start noticing how much better you breathe in hot weather. I'd take that trade any day.

Sometimes you gotta unlearn what you thought you knew about things.

100% me with corduroy. Hated it, now I have three pairs of pants.
