Stumbled on a photo from my first sewing project... the fabric cost was shocking

I was cleaning out a box and found a picture of a skirt I made in 2004. The receipt was tucked behind it... the main fabric was only $4.50 a yard at a shop in Minneapolis. Finding that made me realize how much material prices have jumped since then. Anyone else have old project notes that show a big change?

Heard a podcast that said global supply chain stuff really messed with fabric costs for good. Makes those old receipts feel like relics from another world.

Saw an article a while back about how cotton prices have basically doubled in the last ten years. It really hit home when I tried to buy linen for a summer dress last month. My old pattern notes from college have fabric costs that look like a fantasy now. It makes me want to dig through my own old boxes and have a good cry over the receipts.

Yeah those old pattern notes are brutal lol. It's wild how much things have changed.
