Tried lazy draping vs structured pattern making for my prom dress line this spring
I usually do draping on a mannequin but for the 6 prom dresses I made last month I decided to go full pattern on paper instead. With draping I kept getting saggy bust lines and uneven hems that took forever to fix. The paper patterns came out clean on the first try every time and saved me about 3 hours per dress. Any other designers here have a preference for one over the other?

Are you seriously counting hours over prom dresses that'll be worn once?

Honestly, @susan130 you’re right, I’m over here calculating the cost per hour like it’s some kind of rental agreement. But @the_stella is spot on - just buy the one that makes you feel like a million bucks and worry about the math later.

Forget the hours, @susan130 just buy what makes you happy.
