Honestly, I lost a full day's pay trying to save $50 on a 'universal' post driver from a discount tool site.
The thing bent on the second cedar post, and now I'm out $400 for the wasted labor and have to buy the proper driver anyway, so has anyone found a truly solid driver that won't fold on hard ground?

Ugh, I read a whole thread about this and @wesley385 is totally right about the farm supply ones!

What did you end up buying? I was the same way, always grabbing the cheapest tool I could find. Learned the hard way on a fence job last fall. Bought a no-name driver that snapped. Cost me more in time than the tool was worth. Now I just get the heavy-duty one from the farm supply store. It costs more up front but actually works.

I grabbed a Milwaukee M18 impact driver after my old bargain brand one gave out halfway through building a deck. I mean, it's crazy how a cheap tool can just stop working when you need it most. Now I'd rather save up for a few weeks and get something that won't quit on me. That extra cost really does save you a ton of hassle and wasted time in the long run.
