My turnaround on using metal accents in wooden fences
Used to avoid them for rust concerns. A treated steel insert project changed my view.

Got a bit hung up on the word "treated" there. Treated steel usually means it's been coated or galvanized, but that's not a magic fix forever. The better term is probably "galvanized" steel, which has that zinc layer that really fights rust. Even galvanized stuff can eventually show wear, especially at cut edges. For fence accents, you're looking at a much longer life but it's never truly zero worry.

How did you treat the steel to finally stop worrying about rust?

Finally stop worrying about rust" sounds like a dream (I still check my truck bed every spring). Honestly, if that secret exists, they're keeping it from the rest of us.
