Rant: Skipping concrete on fence posts is asking for trouble
I've seen too many fences lean over because the posts weren't set in concrete. It might save a bit of time and money now, but you'll end up redoing the whole job in a couple of years. Am I wrong for refusing to install a fence without proper concrete bases?

Refusing to do it any other way is the only smart move. Who even considers skipping the concrete? That’s just building a future problem. Wind hits it, ground freezes, the whole thing wobbles. Saving a few bucks now costs triple later to fix. You’re totally right to stand your ground on this.

Man, I used to try skipping concrete to save money too. Seeing a neighbor's shed almost tip over last winter totally changed my mind. You're right, it's way cheaper to just do it right the first time.

My old garage floor cracked after two years because we rushed the base layer... feels like half the stuff breaking down around town is from that same "good enough for now" mindset.
