Seen that with so many things, from rickety shelves to bad relationships. Skip the basics and the whole structure gets wobbly fast. Really is all about what you build on.

Question if it's always that deep though. Like microwave meals skip cooking basics but still feed you just fine. Or streaming movies without knowing film history. Sometimes the fancy structure holds up okay even if the base is just whatever works for now.
