My inspector said our 'dream house' had a squirrel condo in the attic

I mean, we were ready to sign on this cute 1950s ranch in Springfield, right? Our inspector came out and was like, 'You've got about 40 pounds of acorns stored up there, and the wiring looks like a chew toy.' He said fixing the damage and evicting the tenants would be another $8k minimum. We walked away and now I check the attic for nuts before I even look at the kitchen. Has anyone else had a deal fall apart because of something totally wild like that?

Oh man, a squirrel condo? That's a new one. We almost bought a place where the inspector found a full beehive inside the bathroom wall, like the whole thing was buzzing. He said they'd probably been there for years, and getting them out and fixing the drywall was a huge mess. We noped out of there so fast. Makes you wonder what else people don't notice until it's too late.

Our inspector found a family of raccoons in the chimney.

Honestly used to think home inspections were just a boring box to check. That squirrel story changes things though. It shows how a pro can find the hidden stuff you'd never see. Now I get why people say not to skip that step, even if it costs a bit. It can save you from a real nightmare later on.
