Not speaking up about a broken seal on the patio door has me conflicted
When I was buying my first home, the inspection missed a broken seal on the patio door. I saw it myself but didn't say anything because I worried the deal would fall through. Now I wonder if I should have been more honest. It's a gray area, right? What would you have done?

Understand the worry about the deal falling through, but calling it a gray area is a stretch. You saw a real problem and chose to hide it, which shifts all the risk to you the second you closed. The inspector's job is one thing, but your own eyes are another. I would have pointed it out and tried to negotiate a fix or a credit, because finding surprises later is always worse.

My first house had a hidden water stain. The inspector missed it, but I knew. That leak cost me five grand a year later.
