Honestly yeah, they act like it's foolproof but some of those recipes move way too fast. Tbh I got a kit once that expected me to julienne carrots and zest a lemon while also managing three pans on the stove. For a beginner recipe? Ngl my kitchen looked like a tornado hit it and dinner was an hour late. They skip over basic stuff like how to actually chop an onion without crying your eyes out.

Totally feel this and @mia_hart90's burnt garlic, my first kit had me scorching rice while frantically peeling ginger.

The worst part is they pretend everything takes 30 minutes when it really takes double. You need to already know how to handle kitchen basics, which defeats the point. My first kit had me burning garlic while trying to chop herbs fast enough. They set people up to fail and then act like it's user error. It's annoying how they aim at beginners but use steps for experienced cooks.
