Just realized spending $40 on a knee kicker was worth it
I used to rent one for every job for $15 a day. After 4 jobs this month I finally bought my own Crain kicker and it paid for itself already. Anyone else finally cave and buy a tool you kept renting?

I mean, "paid for itself already" is like the golden rule of tool buying, right? It's that moment where you do the math in your head and realize you're basically saving money by spending money. I bought a high-end hammer drill once after renting one for like five weekends in a row. My wife was not impressed when I showed her the receipt, but I was like, "Honey, look at all this future money we're not gonna spend." Now it just sits in my garage collecting dust, but hey, at least I own it.

Bought a $200 flooring nailer after renting one three times. It's paid for itself on paper but now I just find excuses to nail things that probably didn't need nailing.

Double down on that rationalization, happens every time with me. I bought a tile saw a few years back after one rental and now I find myself eyeballing bathroom walls that don't need touching, just to get my money's worth out of it. @paul286 is right though, that feeling of "future money saved" is what gets you through the garage full of gear you barely touch.
