Hot take: chicken wire is way better than floral tape for large installations

I've always been a floral tape loyalist (learned on it at this shop in Columbus, OH). But last month I had a wedding arch project with like 60 stems and the tape kept failing on the wet foam. Finally tried chicken wire over the foam block and it held everything solid. No slipping, no redoing stems 3 times. Has anyone else made the switch or am I late to this?

Totally agree, chicken wire is a game changer for big builds like that

tape kept failing on the wet foam" - yeah, that's the exact problem I had. I switched to chicken wire about two years ago and never looked back. For big projects where you need serious staying power, nothing beats it. The stems just lock in place way better than tape ever could. Plus you can cram more stems in without everything getting floppy.

She's right about the lock in, but tape gives you way more precision for delicate stems that chicken wire just crushes. @gibson.sarah I think there's a middle ground where you use both on the same block.
