Just read that 85% of a flower's scent is released at night, from a book on plant biology.

It makes me rethink how we arrange evening event bouquets. Has anyone else picked a bloom specifically for its night fragrance?

Oh wow, that's a crazy high percentage. Makes you wonder if our whole idea of a "nice smell" is totally day-biased. What if some night scents are actually too strong or weird for our daytime noses, and we've just been missing a whole side of them? Could be why some evening flowers smell kinda funky or intense to us.

Totally agree about the day bias. Our noses are probably tuned for sunlight hours. Night flowers might be speaking a whole different scent language we just don't get.

That bit about scent release at night is spot on. I remember a gardening show saying night blooming jasmine is so strong it can fill a whole backyard after dark. It makes you realize how much we miss by only enjoying flowers during the day. Planning evening events around that kind of fragrance is a smart move.
