Just read that a single rose stem can drink up a gallon of water in a day
I was looking at a grower's blog from Oregon and they said a mature rose bush in peak season can pull that much. I always thought they were thirsty, but that's crazy. My whole morning routine is just watering now. Has anyone else seen numbers like this for other flowers?

Wait a gallon a day? That seems way off. My roses get maybe a quart on the hottest days and they're fine. I'd want to see the actual soil and weather conditions, that sounds like a worst case scenario for a huge plant.

Yeah, a gallon a day for a single stem sounds like a stretch. I'm with Hayden, that's got to be for a massive, established bush in full sun with really sandy soil. Most backyard roses aren't living that hard.
