My sister's wedding bouquet comment got me thinking about pricing

She said, 'You're not just selling flowers, you're selling the time it took you to learn how to make this look easy,' after I told her my price for a cascading bouquet. I've been undercharging for years, basically giving away my skill. How do you figure out what your actual design time is worth?

Why do we always sell our own hard work for less than it's worth?

My friend sold a painting last year for two hundred bucks. The buyer turned around and listed it for over a grand. We just don't see our own stuff the same way.

Yeah that "less than it's worth" part really hits home... I've been there so many times. It's like we're scared to ask for what we actually deserve, or we don't even know how to figure that number out. You end up feeling kind of cheap after you agree to a price, and it sucks.
