That wedding at a brewery in Portland changed my approach to vase water

I did an event at a local brewery last month and the flowers started wilting by hour three because of all the wild yeast in the air. Had to dump $200 worth of blooms and switch to sealed vessels with treated water. Has anyone else run into weird venue environments messing with flower longevity?

Had to dump $200 worth of blooms" - that's rough, but honestly that's just the yeast getting free appetizers before the reception. Next time, just bring a six-pack of hop water for the flowers and call it a craft pairing. Did you at least bill the brewery for the "fermentation casualties"?

Man that really sucks, sorry you had to ditch them.

Well damn, that's a tough loss. I had the same thing happen at a brewery gig in Austin. I switched to using those glass test tubes for each stem with straight distilled water and a drop of bleach. Kept the blooms fresh for the whole damn reception. Also put the whole arrangement together just an hour before the ceremony so they had less time to soak up the brewery funk. Not perfect but way better than replacing everything mid-event.
