My take on that fancy grilled cheese truck everyone loves

I finally tried 'The Toasty Bun' at the park last weekend, got their mushroom swiss melt. It was okay, but for twelve bucks I expected way more flavor, kinda just tasted like buttered bread. All my friends swear by this place, but I'd take a basic food truck burger any day. Anyone else think some trucks focus too much on being gourmet?

Last Friday, my friend Lisa spent fourteen dollars on a pulled pork sandwich from that new fusion truck. She said the meat was dry and the sauce tasted like nothing, just a sweet glaze. It reminded me of what @mark_hayes said about gourmet trucks missing the point of street food. Why do they charge so much for something you can make better at home? Maybe some trucks are just trying too hard to be fancy instead of focusing on flavor.

Yeah, totally. Some of these gourmet trucks forget what makes street food good. Just give me something tasty and messy, not a twelve dollar art project.

What's the dumbest thing I've bought from a food truck? I paid fourteen dollars for a tiny burger that was all style, no substance. Now I just look for the trucks with long lines and messy eaters.
