Found a 1973 grocery list in a library copy of 'The Shining' and it's weirdly sad

It was tucked between the pages about the hedge animals, just a simple list for milk, bread, and heart medication. The book was due back in 1982, so whoever they were, they never finished it. What's the most haunting everyday item you've ever pulled from a book?

Ever find a photo of a kid, smiling, tucked in a book about war? @eva_adams68, that flower story hits hard.

Oh man, that "due back in 1982" part got me. It's like a tiny time capsule of a normal day that just stopped. I found a dried flower once in a used copy of a love poem book, pressed right at a poem about loss. The receipt was still there too, from a pharmacy, dated the same week my grandma died. It felt way too heavy for just a flower and a scrap of paper.

My old library copy of "The Once and Future King" has a grocery list in the back from 1976. Eggs, bread, coffee. It doesn't feel heavy to me. It just feels like someone, maybe tired after work, was planning dinner before they got lost in a story. That's kind of nice. The normal stuff keeps going around the edges of the big moments.
