Found a photo in a library book and my whole system fell apart

I always sorted my finds by the book's genre, like keeping a love letter from a romance novel separate from a grocery list in a cookbook. Last month, inside a copy of 'The Hobbit' from the Portland library, I found a faded Polaroid of a kid holding a goldfish bowl. It didn't fit the fantasy theme at all. That's when it hit me that the person who left it wasn't thinking about genre, they were just using the book as a safe place. Now I organize everything by the feeling the object gives me instead. Does anyone else ignore the book's subject and just go by the vibe of the find?

How do you even start sorting by feeling? I tried it once and got stuck for an hour deciding if a train ticket felt more 'lonely' or 'hopeful'.

That's the whole point, you're supposed to get stuck.

My aunt once found a wedding ring in a book about divorce.
