I think those 'vintage' pressed flower kits are a total scam

Bought one for $35 thinking I could make cool bookmarks, but the flowers just turned to dust after a week... the silica gel packet they give you is basically useless. Anyone have a method that actually works?

My grandma's pressed pansies from 1982 are still perfect in her Bible... you just need way more weight and time than those kits give you.

Wow, that's a serious time commitment. So are we talking like a full year pressed in the book, or even longer? Modern kits just don't prepare you for that.
