Serious question, are old photos better left in the books we find them in?

I found a black and white wedding photo from 1947 tucked in a library copy of 'Gone with the Wind'. Part of me thinks it's a piece of history that belongs with the book, but another part feels like I should try to find the family. What would you do with something like that?

That 1947 wedding photo is a real find. I'd try a quick online search for the names on the back, if there are any. If nothing comes up in an hour, I'd put it right back in that copy of Gone with the Wind. Its own little time capsule, you know? The next person to find it gets the same magic moment you just had.

@jesse_green55 my grandma hid cash in her cookbooks.

Yeah, that "magic moment for the next person" really hits home. It's like @the_susan's grandma's cookbook cash, a little secret handshake with the past. I'd snap a clear photo of it for myself first, then slide it right back between those pages. That book is its home now, and the whole point is the surprise of the find.
