Just realized we don't use clay anymore for basic molds, and I miss the feel of it.
I was cleaning out the old storage shed and found a bag of molding clay from my early days. We used clay for all kinds of molds back then. It had a specific feel when it was just right, cool and firm under your fingers. These days, everything is synthetic mixes that set in minutes. I know they're more efficient, but I miss the hands-on skill it took. What confuses me is why we dropped clay so completely. Was there a big reason, or did it just fade away? I guess some changes happen without us really noticing until later.
