Careful control" sounds good in theory, but you can't control residual stress. Rushing the soak is a gamble where the cost is your entire batch being out of spec. Just don't do it.

Last time we rushed a soak the whole batch came out with warped mounting points. Cost us more in rework than the delay would have. Now we build in a buffer for the full cycle no matter what. Started logging each run too, so we can prove why the time is needed. Turns out just a few degrees variance in our old furnace was throwing everything off.
